<br />If you haven't heard much about Techco, you soon will. The Anaheim-based aftermarket company launched a bevy of performance products for the Chrysler LX platform and Ford Mustang earlier this year, and recently stuffed its reverse-revolution twin-screw supercharger system underneath the hood of a brand new C6 Corvette. The result? 600 horsepower and 535 lb-ft torque at just six pounds of boost. <br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techco-supercharged-corvette/2137367/"><img hspace="4" vspace="4" border="1" align="right" alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techcocorvette_lead2.jpg" /></a><br />Designed and engineered by the same team that created the Series VI supercharger for the Saleen Mustangs, the Techco Corvette supercharger displaces 3.0 liters and features a standalone 8-rib drive system, patented dual A-Frame Intercooler system, high-volume fuel rails with 54 lb/hr injectors, and more. Corvette owners will also be pleased to hear it fits underneath the stock hood.<br /><br />We recently got the chance to get behind the wheel of Techco's demo Corvette for a short drive, and were simply amazed at the dual nature of the car. From the outside it appears to simply be a stock Corvette - it looks stock, sounds stock, and even drives stock if you lay off the throttle. A unique drive system helps to keep things quiet, muting the sound of the supercharger. Get on the gas, though, and the blown LS3 propels the Corvette past legal speeds in the blink of an eye. With a package price of just $8,500 and an optional 10 psi kit, it's a pretty good bargain as well. Full details in the press release after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techco-supercharged-corvette/">Techco Supercharged Corvette</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techco-supercharged-corvette/2137358/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techcocorvette_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techco-supercharged-corvette/2137359/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techcocorvette_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techco-supercharged-corvette/2137360/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techcocorvette_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techco-supercharged-corvette/2137361/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techcocorvette_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techco-supercharged-corvette/2137357/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techcocorvette_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong style="font-style: italic;"><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.<br /></small></strong><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.techcointl.com/product-p/005z-a05-b001573.htm">Techco International</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/11/techco-unleashes-600-horsepower-corvette-supercharger-system/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Techco unleashes 600 horsepower Corvette supercharger system</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/11/techco-unleashes-600-horsepower-corvette-supercharger-system/">Techco unleashes 600 horsepower Corvette supercharger system</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sat, 11 Jul 2009 13:31:00 EST. <div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;"><br /></span></div>
If you want a powerful, fast Porsche Cayenne, Stuttgart has no shortage of choices on offer, topping out with the mental 550 horsepower Turbo S. Of course, there are plenty of aftermarket tuners willing to take the unreasonable up to downright silly proportions, but if you were looking for power and speed without sacrificing too much fuel, for the most part you were advised to look elsewhere. After all, a big SUV isn't exactly the ideal platform for either. But then along comes Porsche tuner extraordinaire Techart to show you the way with its own custom Porsche Cayenne Diesel.<br /><br />Boosting output from 240 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque to a hefty 290 hp and 465 lb-ft, the Techart Cayenne Diesel drops the stock 0-60 time of 8.3 seconds down to a handy 7.7 seconds, all without harming the vehicle's fuel economy or emissions numbers. Nice work, but the most impressive part is the modified torque curve that gives the big oil-burner accessible grunt from as low as 1,000 rpm. <br /><br />Techart has also crafted a unique Aerokit 1 for the diesel sport-ute, giving it a more aggressive stance while improving airflow, capped with giant 21-inch alloys or optional 22s. The British tuning house offers a turnkey model at &pound;55,500 (around $89k USD) with the body kit and engine mods, or can fit an existing diesel Cayenne with the Aerokit for &pound;15,000 ($24k) and the engine kit for &pound;2,500 ($4k). Details in the press release after the jump and high-res images are on offer in the gallery below.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techart-porsche-cayenne-diesel/">Techart Porsche Cayenne Diesel</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techart-porsche-cayenne-diesel/2129929/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techart-diesel1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techart-porsche-cayenne-diesel/2129928/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techart-diesel2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techart-porsche-cayenne-diesel/2129927/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techart-diesel3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techart-porsche-cayenne-diesel/2129926/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techart-diesel4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/techart-porsche-cayenne-diesel/2129925/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/techart-diesel5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: Techart]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/07/twist-and-shout-techart-among-first-to-tweak-porsche-cayenne-di/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Twist and Shout: Techart among first to tweak Porsche Cayenne diesel</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/07/twist-and-shout-techart-among-first-to-tweak-porsche-cayenne-di/">Twist and Shout: Techart among first to tweak Porsche Cayenne diesel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 07 Jul 2009 19:00:00 EST. After working up a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/22/edo-competition-and-audigier-combine-for-limited-edition-designe/">Lamborghini Murcielago with Edo Competition</a> and then a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/03/christian-audigier-stikes-again-with-special-edition-ducati-mons/">Ducati Monster with Rever Corsa</a>, the talent behind the Ed Hardy label has cooked up what looks to be a controversial one-off Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano that's even more out there than <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/07/forever-in-blue-jeans-fiat-scions-denim-ferrari-599-w-video/">Lapo Elkann's denim-clad version</a>. <br /><br />Decked out in decals of pin-up girls, skulls and crossbones, rolling dice and such, the Ed Hardy edition Ferrari - apparently worked up as a promotional tool for German retailer <a href="http://www.modestern.de/">Mode Stern</a> - is even more outlandish than the Audigier-designed <a href="http://www.autoblog.nl/archive/2009/06/14/christian-audigier-vif-1">VIF1 Escalade</a> and the <a href="http://www.motorauthority.com/empire-coachworks-builds-custom-audigier-designed-ed-hardy-mercedes-benz-cl63.html">Empire Mercedes CL63</a> which have popped up on the internets recently. What isn't immediately clear is if this is an actual paintjob or just another shrinkwrapped exotic? Us? We know what we're hoping for...<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ed-hardy-edition-ferrari-599-gtb-fiorano/">Ed Hardy edition Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ed-hardy-edition-ferrari-599-gtb-fiorano/2130387/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/ferrari_599_edhardy_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ed-hardy-edition-ferrari-599-gtb-fiorano/2130380/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/ferrari_599_edhardy-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ed-hardy-edition-ferrari-599-gtb-fiorano/2130385/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/ferrari_599_edhardy-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ed-hardy-edition-ferrari-599-gtb-fiorano/2130383/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/ferrari_599_edhardy-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ed-hardy-edition-ferrari-599-gtb-fiorano/2130384/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/ferrari_599_edhardy-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://blog.autoplus.fr/addx/2009/07/07/ferrari-599-edo-competition-ed-hardy/">AutoPlus.fr</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/07/gangsta-wrapper-ed-hardy-edition-ferrari-599-gtb-fiorano-goes-c/">Gangsta Wrapper? <br /> The BMW enters the massive skidpad at more than 100 mph and begins a sweeping right turn along a soldiered row of orange cones. On cue, a pneumatic device attached to the hub of the spinning left rear wheel instantaneously rips its air valve clean out. Abruptly unsettled by the simulated tire "blow-out," and the collapse of the tire, the family wagon plunges into a long and flat uncontrolled spin knocking the hapless cones skyward in its wake. The BMW finally comes to a rest off course, facing 180-degrees from its original direction of travel.<br /> <br /> Melodramatic in execution, the tire demonstration was repeated again moments later. This time the BMW was fitted with a set of Bridgestone's new third-generation run-flat tires. The high-speed blow-out again unsettled the car, but riding on sustained tire sidewalls it remained controllable as it tracked within the cordoned lane of orange cones and gently came to a stop.<br /> <br /> The demonstration was powerful. Without a doubt, run-flat tires do work. Unfortunately, we've never met a set that didn't ride rough, feel like anchors, or cost us an arm and a leg at the register. We typically avoid them at all costs. Determined to make a change, Bridgestone invited us to Italy to try out its latest iteration of run-flats, promising to alter the way we think about the technology. What is this new tire? <br /><a href="http://hennesseyperformancestore.com/">Hennessey Performance Engineering</a> makes the point that track-oriented Porsche owners can opt up from a normal 911 to a GT3 RS and Viper owners can choose the ACR edition, so what's out there for ZR1 owners who want a more hardcore machine? To answer that question, HPE has introduced the <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformancestore.com/zrcozr1.html">Z700</a> for 2010. <br /><br />The exclusive new model features a number of enhancements that go beyond the requisite power increase, which in this case jumps from 638 to 705 dyno-tuned hp. HPE has also put the ZR1 on a diet, shedding pounds by adding lightweight carbon fiber seats and carbon fiber wheels wrapped in a Michilin Pilot Cup Sport tires. The wheels alone scrub off 60 lbs. of rotating weight. Aero enhancements include Hennessey's Z-Aero carbon fiber front splitter, canards and rear spoiler, all of which add 300 lbs. of downforce. Finally, an alcantara steering wheel and shift knob should feel better in the hand when barnstorming the track.<br /><br />Hennessey plans to prove that the Z700 is a big improvement over the ZR1 by taking direct aim at the standard car's N&uuml;rburgring lap time of 7:26. They'll be flying to Germany with a Z700 later this year to take their best shot, but considering that HPE is perhaps the only only tuning company with its very own on-site track, Lonestar Motorsports Park, we expect good results. <br /><br />Only 24 examples will be produced, and customers who order a Z700 also get a one-day performance driving instruction course at Lonestar Motorsports Park. Total cost for a base Z700 will start at $207,150, which also includes the cost of a donor ZR1. That's nearly a six-figure increase over the base price of a ZR1, so we'll have to wait until it sets some lap times to see if it's worth it.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-z700/">Hennessey Z700</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-z700/2127128/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/zr1_front_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hennessey-z700/2127129/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/zr1_rear_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformancestore.com/zrcozr1.html">Hennessey Performance Engineering</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/06/2010-hennessey-z700-unveiled-for-track-happy-zr1-owners/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>2010 Hennessey Z700 unveiled for track-happy ZR1 owners</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/06/2010-hennessey-z700-unveiled-for-track-happy-zr1-owners/">2010 Hennessey Z700 unveiled for track-happy ZR1 owners</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Mon, 06 Jul 2009 11:29:00 EST. <br />The tuners at MTM have begun tweaking the all-new 2010 Audi S4 (B8) in Europe, and as expected, Audi's new supercharged 333-hp 3.0-liter V6 is rife with potential. With only a revised ECU - no underdrive pulley, intake or exhaust mods - MTM was able to coax 430 crank horsepower out of the blown six - 97 hp more than stock.<br /><br />The kit, which retails for 2,491 euros (around $3,500 USD), brings torque output up to 380 lb-ft and, according to MTM, drops the 0-60 mph time from 5.2 to 4.6 seconds. Clearly, good things are on the way for the BMW 335i fighter, and we expect more to follow when the new darling of the Euro-tuning scene arrives in the States later this year.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-200jy8-20jhuy10-agyguudi-s4/">Paris 2008: 2010 Audi S4</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-200jy8-20jhuy10-agyguudi-s4/1050215/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/s4080021_medium-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-200jy8-20jhuy10-agyguudi-s4/1050214/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/s4080023_medium-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-200jy8-20jhuy10-agyguudi-s4/1050213/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/s4080019_medium-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-200jy8-20jhuy10-agyguudi-s4/1050212/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/s4080017_medium-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/paris-200jy8-20jhuy10-agyguudi-s4/1050211/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/s4080016_medium-1280_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.mtm-online.de/en/index.php?nav=3&amp;FZID=S4B8245Q&amp;Kitnum=m3s4333430qm">MTM</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/05/mtm-turns-up-the-wick-on-the-2010-audi-s4/">MTM turns up the wick on the 2010 Audi S4</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 05 Jul 2009 20:03:00 EST. <br />What is it lately that people don't seem to understand about hardcore off-roaders? They're not supposed to be aerodynamic, and they're not supposed to be pretty. And yet here we are yet again - after the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/01/ebay-find-of-the-day-hummer-h1-gets-beaten-with-aerodynamic-ugl/">modified Hummer recently spotted on eBay</a> - looking at one of the world's most serious rock-climbing workhorses that's been smoothed out in controversial fashion, and in metallic Barney purple, no less.<br /><br />What we have on one hand is the Mercedes Gel&auml;ndewagen, the same essential truck that Magna Steyr has been building for the Three-Pointed Star for some thirty years now. It's got the aerodynamic profile of a barn. Attached to a parachute. On the other, we have the E-Class, one of the most aerodynamically slippery cars on the market. Part of the same company's line-up, but just about as different as can be. And yet, thanks to what looks to be a not inconsequential amount of elbow grease, the two have come together to breed this remarkable concoction, which, we gather, was recently put up for sale on eBay. While we can't locate the auction itself, one has to figure that the owner is going to have a hard time selling a vehicle that's been so extensively "personalized."<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-mercedes-benz-g-e-class/">Custom Mercedes-Benz G/E Class</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-mercedes-benz-g-e-class/2123796/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/mercedes-ge-class-custom-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-mercedes-benz-g-e-class/2123797/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/mercedes-ge-class-custom-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/custom-mercedes-benz-g-e-class/2123798/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/mercedes-ge-class-custom-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.autogespot.com/en/item/733/very-exclusive-mercedes-benz-ge-class/">Autogespot</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/03/behold-the-one-of-a-kind-mercedes-g-e-class/">Behold: The one-of-a-kind Mercedes G/E-Class</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 03 Jul 2009 18:59:00 EST. <strong> </strong>Christian Audigier won't leave us alone. The fashion designer responsible for decking out all the celebs in Ed Hardy and Von Dutch gear has made a killing off his overpriced wears, but apparently unsatisfied with infection of Hollywood, he's turned to motor vehicles as his unfortunate canvas.<br /><br />As if the tattoo'ed <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/22/edo-competition-and-audigier-combine-for-limited-edition-designe/">Lamborghini Murcielago which Audigier created with Edo Competition</a> - which in turn spawned the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/17/racing-skull-ferrari-f430-calavera-by-unique-sportscars-and-nov/">Ferrari F430 Calavera</a> imitator - wasn't enough, he's set upon another exquisite piece of Italian exotica to tarnish: the Ducati Monster. Starting with the 1100cc superbike, Audigier and his partners at Rever Corsa have laid down some sort of dragon-tiger thing over a particularly gaudy red and gold paint scheme. This limited edition crotch rocket commands a $55,000 price tag, proving once again that money and taste don't always go hand in hand.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/">Ducati Monster by Christian Audigier</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/2118472/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0289_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/2118477/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0332_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/2118476/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0356_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/2118475/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0361_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/ducati-monster-by-christian-audigier/2118474/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/dsc_0370_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.revercorsa.com/sales.html">Rever Corsa</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/03/christian-audigier-stikes-again-with-special-edition-ducati-mons/">Christian Audigier stikes again with special edition Ducati Monster</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 03 Jul 2009 08:58:00 EST. <br />We love Ford Mustangs of all shapes and sizes, and the age-old adage of "the more power the better" definitely applies. Scott Vanderschoor, a regular on Bang Shift forums, is working on one hell of a pony car; one that carries the panache of a 'Stang and the power of a Dodge Viper - with a pair of turbochargers providing a little additional motivation. Unsurprisingly, Vanderschoor reportedly needed to move back the firewall a half foot to make room for the massive 8.4L V10 engine, but we're guessing the labor will pay off with some absolutely incredible power numbers.<br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/video-twin-turbo-viper-v10-engined-ford-mustang-looks-to-be-one/"><br /> Hit the jump</a> to see Vanderschoor's big beast as it turns over on camera for the first time. The sound is a bit different than you'd expect from a typical Mustang V8 growl and we're guessing that it has a little more oomph under the hood than most pony cars on the road - even before Vanderschoor tuning gets sorted out. This is one Mustang project we're looking forward to seeing more of! <br />When we last visited the Hurst facility in Irvine, CA, we noticed something unusual. While nearly all of the Challengers were painted in either white or black, a lone Challenger painted in B5 Blue sat tucked away in a corner. When we inquired about the car, we were told that we would find out soon enough. Well, we know now, as Hurst has just unveiled a Competition/Plus package for the Dodge Challenger at the NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, CA. <br /><br />The Competition/Plus project was started in an effort to provide a more affordable package, as well as appeal to customers who might not necessarily want the classic gold paint schemes. Named after the legendary shifter that helped make Hurst famous, the package includes only the essentials: an Eibach suspension system, Magnaflow exhaust system, Hurst 20-inch alloy wheels, color-matched leather inserts and stitching for the interior, matte black exterior accents, and, of course, a Competition/Plus short throw shifter with the classic white ball. We're told the package is available on any color of Challenger, whether it's the B5 Blue pictured here, Hemi Orange, TorRed or any other. <br /><br />Pricing has yet to be announced, but full details on the car should be released soon. Until then, take a look at our exclusive gallery of photographs that were given the chance to snap a couple of days before the car's release.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hurst-competition-plus-challenger/">Hurst Competition/Plus Challenger</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hurst-competition-plus-challenger/2120186/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/hurstcomppluschallenger_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hurst-competition-plus-challenger/2120187/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/hurstcomppluschallenger_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hurst-competition-plus-challenger/2120188/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/hurstcomppluschallenger_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hurst-competition-plus-challenger/2120189/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/hurstcomppluschallenger_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hurst-competition-plus-challenger/2120185/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/07/hurstcomppluschallenger_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong style="font-style: italic;"><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/02/exclusive-hurst-announces-competition-plus-dodge-challenger/">Exclusive: Hurst announces Competition/Plus Dodge Challenger</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 02 Jul 2009 09:58:00 EST. To help deal with requests, the Florida-based company has introduced a Sport Edition model that utilizes an array of parts already in the Steeda catalog. <br /><br />This particular steed is tweaked to handle, with upgraded billet lower control arms, sport springs, and 20-inch chrome wheels wrapped with Nitto NT05 high-performance tires. Other modifications include a sport shifter, underdrive performance pulleys, a performance air cleaner, and distinctive Steeda graphics. At <strike>$8995</strike> <em>$6,995</em>, the pricing seems pretty steep, especially without any significant power upgrades, but we have to admit it's one good looking pony car.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://www.muscularmustangs.com/2009/news0250_steeda_mustang_sport.php">Muscular Mustangs</a>]<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">*UPDATE: </span><span style="font-style: italic;">Steeda representatives have contacted Autoblog with correct information regarding the new Sport Edition, including a different, wallet-friendlier package price of $6,995 (the source article cited incorrect information). <small>1989 JBA Dominator GTA Mustang - Click above for an image gallery</small><br /></div>
<br />The Fox body was hardly a high point in the history of the Ford Mustang. But every kingdom must have a king, and in the late-'80s and early-'90s this was it: the JBA Dominator GTA. Commissioned from J Bittle American by Ford in 1989, the Dominator took the pony car to new heights, installing what was likely the first independent rear suspension on a Mustang along with a long list of features that differentiated this custom muscle car from stock. The Lightning 351 engine features the iron heads from the GT40 and the intake manifold from a Cobra. A custom exhaust and aircraft-derived fuel system kept it breathing, while 17-inch rims obscured race-spec disc brakes at all corners. <br /><br />The list goes on and on, and during its reign, the Dominator received plenty of media attention. The Mustang was featured on the cover of <em>Road &amp; Track</em> in November 1989 in a shoot-out against other factory-backed custom muscle cars and went on to star in various hot-rodding and Ford-specific magazines. The JBA even has <a href="http://www.jbadominator.com">its own website</a>, which will transfer to the buyer willing to pony up the $34,500 asking price for this piece of Mustang tuning history. <br />The thing about limited editions is that there are bound to be at least a few customers disappointed that they couldn't get their hands on one. That's the whole point, keeping demand higher than supply and thus ensuring a high price. So it's a little unusual to see an automaker or aftermarket supplier going back and reopening the supply lines, especially if the model in question has already been replaced. But that's exactly what British tuning house Arden has done with the AJ18.<br /><br />Based on the previous-generation XK, Arden debuted this limited-edition track-inspired Jag coupe nearly ten years ago at the 1999 <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/category/Frankfurt-Motor-Show/">Frankfurt Motor Show</a>, pegging production at just 13 units. A decade gone by, Arden has announced the availability of an additional five examples, bringing the total run up to 18 pieces. What sets the AJ18 apart from the stock XK8 is the carbon-composite aero kit, custom grilles and bumpers, narrow wing mirrors, giant rear wing and 20-inch Sportline rims hiding 370mm brake discs with 6-piston calipers mounted to a lowered Bilstein suspension. <br /><br />We'd just as soon go out and buy a new XK, dynamically superior as it is to its successor in just about every way, but if you've already got a previous-generation model in your driveway and still regret missing your chance to upgrade it to the Arden AJ18, this will probably be your last chance. Probably.<br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/06/arden-goes-back-to-future-with-jaguar.html">Carscoop</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/01/in-tune-with-the-past-arden-re-issues-limited-edition-aj18-xk/">In Tune With the Past: Arden re-issues limited-edition AJ18 XK</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 01 Jul 2009 18:20:00 EST. <div align="center"><br /></div>
It takes a special talent to infantilize the brute strength of a Hummer H1, but someone's gone and done it with an oddly swoopy redesign. One of only two made (yes, there is another), this unique Hummer features a custom hood and front bumper, as well as a multi-section removable roof should the driver and occupants actually wish to be seen tooling around the neighborhood in this beast. <br /><br />Inside, it's been all tricked out with a trifecta of television screens, ostrich leather interior, iPod-compatible entertainment system, sat-nav, back-up cameras...the works. Even the turbodiesel V8 has been tweaked and mounted with a polished aluminum snorkel, complimented by a chrome Mack truck bulldog hood ornament. Oh, and it has a $2,000 train horn, just in case someone can't see this behemoth coming from a mile away. All this can be yours for the low price of $89,900 or best offer.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hummer-h1-custom-on-ebay/">Hummer H1 custom on eBay</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hummer-h1-custom-on-ebay/2116781/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummer-h1-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hummer-h1-custom-on-ebay/2116785/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummer-h1-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hummer-h1-custom-on-ebay/2116782/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummer-h1-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hummer-h1-custom-on-ebay/2116779/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummer-h1-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/hummer-h1-custom-on-ebay/2116780/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/hummer-h1-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source: <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hummer-:-H1_W0QQitemZ220442172008QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090626?IMSfp=TL0906261810003r36062">eBay Motors</a> via <a href="http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/06/custom-built-hummer-h1-is-one-freaky.html">Carscoop</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/01/ebay-find-of-the-day-hummer-h1-gets-beaten-with-aerodynamic-ugl/">eBay Find of the Day: Hummer H1 gets beaten with aerodynamic ugly stick</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Wed, 01 Jul 2009 09:00:00 EST. <br />We're unsure about the logic behind messing with one of Ferrari's amazing creations, let alone a limited edition model like the Scuderia Spider 16M. But German tuning company Novitec Rosso has no qualms about putting their own creative mark on the cars from Maranello. Their most recent creation is this twin-supercharged Scuderia Spider 16M that puts out 696 horsepower at 8400 rpm and 503 lb-ft torque at 6300 rpm. Capable of hitting 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and topping 205 mph, it's easily one of the fastest convertibles in the world. The Italian drop top also gets larger wheels and tires, sport springs with a hydraulic lift system, black taillights, side markers and reflectors, a leather/carbon fiber steering wheel, and carbon fiber shift paddles. Full details in the press release after the jump.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-rosso-ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m/">Novitec Rosso Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-rosso-ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m/2113983/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/novitec16m_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-rosso-ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m/2113984/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/novitec16m_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-rosso-ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m/2113985/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/novitec16m_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-rosso-ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m/2113986/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/novitec16m_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/novitec-rosso-ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m/2113987/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/novitec16m_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Source: Novitec via <a href="http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2009/06/novitec-rosso-officially-launches-696-horsepower-upgrade-for-the-ferrari-f430-scuderia-spider.html">AutoGuide.com</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/30/novitec-unveils-twin-supercharged-ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Novitec unveils twin-supercharged Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/30/novitec-unveils-twin-supercharged-ferrari-scuderia-spider-16m/">Novitec unveils twin-supercharged Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Tue, 30 Jun 2009 10:30:00 EST. <br />The Pontiac brand may be on its way out the door, but that doesn't mean it can't have one last fling with a renowned tuner. Hurst Performance Vehicles, the legendary shifter company that most recently has made waves with its <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/19/how-its-made-hurst-hemi-dodge-challenger/">Hemi Challenger</a>, announced its new H.O. program for the Pontiac G6 and G8. Few details have been released regarding the performance upgrades of the cars, but each will feature Hurst's signature black/gold or white/gold paint scheme, forged alloy Hurst wheels, an exclusive Hurst shifter, supercharged engine, suspension upgrades, and a newly trimmed interior. <br /><br />To help with the development of the car, Hurst also brought on performance icon "Doc" Watson, who developed such vehicles as the Hurst Hemi-Under-Glass and the 1972 Pontiac SSJ. Only 52 Hurst H.O. Pontiacs will be built along with ten G6 convertibles used as parade and special event vehicles. More details regarding the performance upgrades will be announced on August 1st, but until then all the available information can be found in the press release after the jump.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/30/hurst-announces-pontiac-h-o-g8-and-g6/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hurst announces Pontiac H.O. But if that minivan is the 2010 Honda Stream, you can still satisfy your sporty urges thanks to Mugen. The practically in-house tuner has developed a full line of interior, exterior, aero, performance, handling and cosmetic parts for the people mover -- from typical Mugen mods like spoilers and wheels to a performance air filter and TypeT touring brake pads. If you add the sport suspension to your minivan, well, maybe you really do need to get a different car.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mugen-honda-stream/">2010 Mugen Honda Stream</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mugen-honda-stream/2112324/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/01_mugen_stream_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mugen-honda-stream/2112325/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/02_mugen_stream_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mugen-honda-stream/2112327/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/03_mugen_stream_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mugen-honda-stream/2112326/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/04_mugen_stream_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-mugen-honda-stream/2112328/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/05_mugen_stream_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br />[Source:<a href="http://www.mugen-power.com/street/stream/"> Mugen</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/28/unlikely-state-of-tune-mugen-takes-on-the-honda-stream/">Unlikely State Of Tune: Mugen takes on the Honda Stream</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Sun, 28 Jun 2009 20:07:00 EST. <br />Coinciding with the 35th Annual Ford and Team Shelby Nationals in Tulsa, OK, Shelby Automobiles has released a barrage of new models including a 2010 version of the GT500 Super Snake (above). Most of the models are based on the previous generation Mustang, either the Mustang GT, Shelby GT or GT500 that current owners can bring to Shelby to be modified. <br /><br /><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt-sr/2109795/"><img vspace="4" hspace="4" border="1" align="right" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/shelbysr000_opt.jpg" class="right border" alt="" /></a>First up is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108961/">Shelby GT/SC</a>, basically a Shelby GT with a supercharger, upgraded brakes and triple gauges on the dash. Next is the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108965/">Shelby GT/SR</a> (right), which is essentially a GT/SC model fitted with additional equipment for racing like BFGoodrich R compound tires, a one-piece aluminum driveshaft, front brake duct kit and an adjustable suspension.<br /><br />If you want to Shelbify your regular Mustang GT, you can opt for the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108969/">SuperCharged package</a> that includes a supercharger, upgrades brakes, suspension and exhaust, 18-inch tires and more. You can also spec out your Mustang to SR spec, which adds similar upgrades to the GT/SR model. <br /><br />Have a GT500 that needs more Shelby stuff on it? You can now go with the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108975/">GT500SE</a> (Special Edition) package that includes a carbon fiber front splitter, rocker panels and hood grille inserts, Ford Racing suspension, Borla exhaust, 20-inch wheels and tires, and more. And what if your GT500 is a 2010 model? Well, Shelby is now offering their <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108952/">Super Snake package</a> for the latest GT500 that, among other things, offers a 725-horsepower supercharger upgrade.<br /><br />Overwhelmed? So are we, but follow the jump to dig through all the upgrades and information for each vehicle. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt500-super-snake/">2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt500-super-snake/2109771/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/2010ss000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt500-super-snake/2109770/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/2010ss001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt500-super-snake/2109769/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/2010ss002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt500-super-snake/2109768/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/2010ss003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt500-super-snake/2109767/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/2010ss004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt-sr/">2010 Shelby GT/SR</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt-sr/2109795/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/shelbysr000_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt-sr/2109794/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/shelbysr001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt-sr/2109793/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/shelbysr002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt-sr/2109796/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/shelbysr003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2010-shelby-gt-sr/2109792/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/shelbysr004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/">New Shelby models for 2009</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108952/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/2010shelbysupersnake_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake" title="2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108953/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/2010shelbysupersnake2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake" title="2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108954/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/2010shelbysupersnake3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake" title="2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108955/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/2010shelbysupersnake4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake" title="2010 Shelby GT500 Super Snake" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/new-shelby-models-for-2009/2108961/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/shelbygtsc_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Shelby GT/SC" title="Shelby GT/SC" /></a></div><br />[Source: Shelby]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/shelby-unveils-six-new-models-including-2010-gt500-super-snake/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Shelby unveils six new models including 2010 GT500 Super Snake</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/26/shelby-unveils-six-new-models-including-2010-gt500-super-snake/">Shelby unveils six new models including 2010 GT500 Super Snake</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 26 Jun 2009 11:28:00 EST. <br />Normally the twisting of an ignition key doesn't constitute news here at Autoblog, but this is one of the few exceptions. Back in January, Hennessey Performance announced the HPE700, a concoction born from the combination of an <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/08/hennessey-hpe700-bastard-love-child-of-camaro-ss-and-corvette-z/">LS9 supercharged V8 from a ZR1 and a 2010 Camaro</a>. The Texas-based company only recently <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/15/it-fits-hennessey-successfully-shoves-zr1-ls9-into-camaro/">shoe-horned the engine into the engine bay</a>. A video camera was on when it was finally time to start the newly created monster, and the sound is nothing short of amazing. The result of open headers plus what appears to be a fairly aggressive cam makes for a sound that has the hairs on the backs of our necks standing on end. <div align="left">AB regulars will note that we just reported on the re-opening of the car-lover's dream store at the Irvine Spectrum in Southern California. We told you how the former <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2006/07/30/shop-with-saleen/">Saleen Store</a> had re-opened under the banner of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/16/saleen-retail-store-re-opened-as-concours-supercars/">Concours Supercars</a>, keeping much of the original shop's charms, but replacing all of the Saleen merchandise with multiple brands of auto-minded clothing, apparel and toys. One nod to the store's former owner was the Saleen Mustang parked inside. Well, cancel those plans to visit if you've already made them. The store is no more.<br /><br /><em>The</em> <em>Orange County Register</em> is reporting that the parent operation, Concours Supercars, has already shut the store's doors. Spokeswoman Kelly Rose Pion says the Irvine Spectrum location closed on June 17, about two months after it had opened because of "issues" with the company's main facility in Anaheim. Concours Supercars has had to "alter its business operations," according to Pion, and that meant closing the Irvine Concours Supercars store.<br /><br />Last we checked, the sign was still up and there was still merchandise on the shelves, so we'll have to see what comes next for this prime bit of retail space in the heart of car crazy SoCal. It's just a stone's throw from the weekly Cars &amp; Coffee meet, and we even spotted a familiar face outside the store last time by: None other than Steve Saleen was there with two <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/17/sms-570-challenger-has-a-coming-out-party/">SMS Challengers</a> and his daughter Molly in her <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/27/saleen-molly-pop-mustang-has-its-owner-tickled-pink/">Molly Pop pink Saleen Mustang</a>. Might Steve be considering another go at it? We'll keep you posted.<br /><br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/concours-supercars-retail-store/">Concours Supercars Retail Store</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/concours-supercars-retail-store/2086253/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/concourssupercars_01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/concours-supercars-retail-store/2086254/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/concourssupercars_02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/concours-supercars-retail-store/2086255/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/concourssupercars_03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/concours-supercars-retail-store/2086256/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/concourssupercars_04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/concours-supercars-retail-store/2086252/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/06/concourssupercars_05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><strong style="font-style: italic;"><small>Photos copyright (C)2009 <a href="http://www.drewphillipsphotography.com/">Drew Phillips</a> / Weblogs, Inc.</small></strong><br /><br />[Source: <a href="http://retail.freedomblogging.com/2009/06/23/irvine-spectrum-store-closes/10693/">The Orange County Register</a>]<br /></div>
